: In this Act, unless the subject or the context requires otherwise,-
(a) “Executive Head” means the Executive Head of the Authority.
(b) "Executive Committee" means the Executive Committee as per Section 6.
(c) "Fund" means the Disaster Management Fund under section 22.
(d)    “unnatural calamity” means epidemic, famine, fire, insect or microbial attack, animal and bird flu, pandemic flu, snakebite, animal terror, mine, air, road, water or industrial accident, fire, poisonous gas, Chemical or radiation leakage, gas explosion, consumption of poisoned food, environmental pollution, forest destruction or damage to physical structures and accidents in disaster rescue operations or similar unnatural disasters should be understood as disasters.
(e) "District Disaster Management Committee" means the District Disaster Management Committee as per section 16.
(f) “Prescribed” or “as prescribed” means prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
(g) "Council" means the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management as per Section 3.
(h) "State Disaster Management Committee" means the State Disaster Management Committee as per section 14.
(h)   “Natural calamity” means snow, hail, avalanche, avalanche, heavy rain, lack of rain, flood, landslide and landslide, flood, drought, storm, windstorm, cold wave, heat wave, lightning, earthquake, volcanic eruption; , any disaster caused by fire or other similar natural disasters should be considered.
(j) "Authority" means the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority as per Section 10.
(k) "Ministry" means the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of Nepal (l) “Disaster” means any placeA natural or non-natural disaster that creates an emergency situation and causes loss of people or property as well as adverse impact on living and environment.
(d) "Disaster search and rescue team" means a specialized search and rescue team active in search and rescue or prepared to be mobilized for disaster management and the term also refers to trained humanitarian aid workers.
(d) "Disaster risk reduction" means risk analysis and evaluation before a disaster, disaster prevention or reduction of damage caused by a disaster and work related to reducing disaster risk in development work.
(n) "Disaster recovery" means the work related to the reconstruction and rehabilitation after the disaster.
(T) "Disaster response" means the search, rescue and relief work that is done immediately upon the occurrence of a disaster, and the word also refers to the preparedness of disaster response.
(h) "Disaster management" means all activities related to disaster risk reduction, disaster response and disaster recovery.
(d) “Commercial establishment” means a specified commercial establishment such as an industry, factory, cinema, shopping mall, multi-purpose commercial building.
(d) "Public institution" means a government agency, an institution wholly or partially owned by the government, an organized institution established in accordance with prevailing laws or all types of health and educational institutions.
(N) "Security Agency" means Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal, National Investigation Department and Provincial Police.
(p) “Local level” means rural municipality, municipality and district assembly.
(f) "Local Disaster Management Committee" means the Local Disaster Management Committee under section 17.
